In Hairspray, it's 1962, the '50s are out and change is in the air. Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart has only one passion- to dance. She wins a spot on the local TV dance programme, 'The Corny Collins Show' and, overnight, is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can a trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the programme's reigning princess, win the heart of hearthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her 'do? Only in Hairspray! Welcome to the '60s!

Week 6: It Takes Two

Hey Everyone!

I'm Josh and I play Fender, one of the Nicest Kids in Town.

I'm really enjoying all the rehearsals for Hairspray - I'm so glad I auditioned!
This week we've been rehearsing "It Takes Two" and it's been great and Charles has done really well.

On Wednesday night we went to Oxford to see Hairspray on Tour, which was really useful and has given us the drive to do even better.

I can't wait until March, it seems so far away! The show is only going to get better, so buy your tickets!

Week 5: Autumn Concert

Hey guys I’m Heather and I play the role of Velma Von Tussle.
Not the most liked of characters due to her prejudice opinions but may I say I’m having a blast!

Bring on the boos!

This is the first school production I have been involved in and I was really nervous I wouldn’t fit it but I have met the loveliest people and I’m sure we'll be friends for a long time.

This week we rehearsed for the "Autumn Concert" the first sneak peak of a scene! The audience were great and I think they really loved "I can hear the bells". They gave us so much energy and I’m sure that will help us in upcoming rehearsals.

I’m loving the experience so far and have made so many memories already.
March seems a long way away but bring it on!

Week 4: Miss Baltimore Crabs!

Hi Everyone,

My name's Charles and in our production of Hairspray "I'm Link".

Last week we rehearsed the very loud and dramatic scene 'Miss Baltimore Crabs'. It's really energetic and I thought everybody did a really good job and made it their own. Well done everyone!

My journey in the show so far has been a really new and exciting experience. I haven't ever had a big role like this on such a scale before so every week is a whole new rollercoaster ride, especially the dancing. I have been doing LOADS of extra practise so that (hopefully) I won't fall over straight on my face! So thanks to Lauren for the extra training...

The energy in rehearsals is really hotting up! Well done and keep it up guys! I know I'm really excited about the whole experience, hope you all are too.

See you at the show!

Hairspray ALD - 1st October

Hey there!
I’m Natasha and I play Tracy in our school musical Hairspray. I joined the school last year for sixth form due to my love for performing arts. Watching Walton High's Hercules really inspired me to get involved.  I'm delighted to have been given the chance to play this role, especially because it will be performed in ‘The Venue’ a brand new addition to the school which will take our performances at Walton High to another level.
Rehearsals are already under way and our last ALD day was a great success. We reached the fourth scene, 'I Can Hear The Bells' and already everyone is enjoying the experience! We are all so eager  to learn more steps to the dances and more notes to our songs.
