In Hairspray, it's 1962, the '50s are out and change is in the air. Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart has only one passion- to dance. She wins a spot on the local TV dance programme, 'The Corny Collins Show' and, overnight, is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can a trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the programme's reigning princess, win the heart of hearthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her 'do? Only in Hairspray! Welcome to the '60s!

Week 8: Clean Up

Hi, I'm Dennis, some may know me as denden or Gilbert in Hairspray!

Dancing, singing and acting was never really my thing, I always enjoyed watching rather than participating. After watching Walton High's previous production of Hercules (really good), I finally found the courage to get involved.

This week was the clean up of all the scenes so far. The only scene I had was being in detention with the lads :( (doesn't really happen in real life by the way).I also videod a little bit of rehearsal so you guys can see what's going on.

I've got to admit when I first started I wasn't really comfortable with being on stage (a bit of stage fright you know) but now I'm on my way to being the next Seaweed (sorry Dej). Next week is when all the action starts - it's RUN AND TELL THAT, the best song. Do you agree?

I thought this would be the only scene I got excited about but from experiencing the others I strangely find I like all the songs. Yeah so that's my story.

This is Dennis Oduro aka Gilbert reporting for Hairspray.
