In Hairspray, it's 1962, the '50s are out and change is in the air. Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart has only one passion- to dance. She wins a spot on the local TV dance programme, 'The Corny Collins Show' and, overnight, is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can a trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the programme's reigning princess, win the heart of hearthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her 'do? Only in Hairspray! Welcome to the '60s!

Week 7: Welcome To The '60s

Hey! I'm Josh and I'm playing Tracy's mum Edna. Yes a woman…
Last week we were rehearsing Welcome to the '60s which is Edna's big reveal scene. The scene is full of life, fun and fashion and we had a ball putting it all together.
This is my sixth production here at Walton High and I love them! But the best part of any production is the new friends and people you meet along the way. Every year it's great to add new people to the show's family.
It’s all coming on quck and it's scary to think that normally we would be perfoming the show in less than 20 days! March isn't seeming that far.
Act one nearly done and the show is taking shape. All very exciting!
But sadly today I had to say goodbye to my chest hair to fully take on the role of Edna… the things I do for my art L

Josh Atkinson (Edna Turnblad)
